When I try to run some of my programs, I get a message that says: NTVDM
KERNEL: Missing 16-bit system module. Please re-install the following
module to your system32 directory SOUND.DRV. Why did it go missing and how
do I find it to re-install?

To resolve this issue follow the following troubleshooting steps.

Boot the computer with the help of operating cd and when you get r for
repair press R on that menu.It will take to u to recovery console windows at
recovery console window just follow the following steps.
After you start the Windows Recovery Console, you receive the following
message:
Microsoft Windows(R) Recovery Console

The Recovery Console provides system repair and recovery functionality.
Type EXIT to quit the Recovery Console and restart the computer.

1: C:\WINDOWS

Which Windows Installation would you like to log on to
(To cancel, press ENTER)?

After you enter the number for the appropriate Windows installation, Windows
will then prompt you to enter the Administrator account password.

Just press enter on it .

EXPAND
expand source [/F:filespec] [destination] [/y]

source should be your cd rom drive leter like e: and destination is should
be c:\windows\system32

It should be like : c:>expand e:\i386 c:\windows\system32 /f: sound.drv /y
