Sound Card not working

A

Alex

I downloaded Windows 2000 (upgrading from Me) and I cannot
get the sound card to work. One of my problems is, I have
no idea what kind of sound card it is or how to tell.
Obviously, I am a novice so any help is appreciated.
When I try using WinAmp I get an error that says..."A
device ID has been used that is out of range for your
system" Please help.

Thanks,
Alex

Your problem may be that you did an "upgrade" that
wasn't. It's quite simple: WinME was released AFTER
Win2000, and there is no path going from WinME to
Win2000. If you do it anyway then you can expect all
sorts of weird and wonderful problems. Your best bet
would be a clean installation of Win2000.

Is there no other way to get it to recognize it...I no
longer have the Windows 2000 disk to load...can I install
a driver or something of that nature?

Thanks again.
