Sorting Pics

I view / arrange icons by picture taken date.

So the newest pics are at the bottom. However sometimes pics don't sort in
the correct order. ie; I have some pics that stay at the bottom of the
folder; even though they are older pics.

Why is that? Does it have anything to do with editing them; or copying or
moving them? How to avoid this?

Thanks

In Details view, you can have the latest pics taken listed first or last,
your choice.

In Details view, click on the column header Date Picture taken and click
again on it. This will change last to first and first to last. You can then
change the view to thumbnails or filmstrip to see them in the order you just
selected in Details.

Yes I know how to do that and that is what I do with all my pics. But there
are certain pics that just stay at the bottom of the list when sorted by
picture taken date even though they were taken earlier. So why are those
certain pics doin that? is it because I editted them? or cut and paste them?

Thanks

Look at the listing in Detail View. The pics at the bottom. do they have a
"Date picture taken" listed or is this entry empty?

Hi again,

No; in Details view those pics don't show a 'picture taken date'. How do I
fix this?

Thanks!

OK. The column is missing.
Open the folder
Click on the Views icon
Select the Details View
Right click on the column header "name"
A list will open
Click on More at the bottom of the list
Check the box Date Picture Taken
This will add a new column "Date Picture Taken". You can change the
ascending descending order by clicking on this column header to sort your
file by date. If you want to return to sort your file by name, click on the
Name column header. Then return your Views to thumbnails if this is what you
want.

Are these pics with missing info coming from the same camera as pics with
this info?
If no, and they are from an older camera this info may be missing for the
simple reason that this info was not included on early models.
If they are from the same camera, you may have edited them with some
software and this info was not retained when you "Save as".
To check if this info is with the photo file, right click on the file, click
on properties and then Summary tab. Any info displayed there?

Yes same camera.

In Properties Summary; there is way less info then in the ones that sort
properly.

Thanks again,
Lisa
