sorting indexes

I have a book index paragraphed alphabetically.
I have copied additions onto the page and am trying to sort each title into
it's alphabetical paragraph. At the moment I am havintg to cut and patse each
group of new titles (As,Bs,Cs etc.) and then sort each paragraph
individually.Is there an easier of getting this done. With 3000 new titles
it would be much appreciated!!

Sorry if the explanation is a little confused I am frustrated and incoherent!

If each title is in a specific style with an outline level, you can sort in
outline view. See http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/UsingOLView.htm
