Cataloging

I am cataloging my movies. I have randomly typed in the titles with the
idea of sorting alphabetically after all have been typed. My problem is
that some of my movies are TV shows. I has listed episode number and title
of the episode for each TV show on my list. The problem is when I sort
alphabetically, all the episodes for each TV show are listed under "E" and
not under the related TV shows. What are the steps to sorting to have the
right episodes under the designated or correct TV shows.

Thanks, CJ

CJ, If you're putting the episode and show name in the same cell, you should
put the show name first so you'll get a good sort. In other Words,
Outer Limits Episode: If Walls Could Talk
not
Episode If Walls Could Talk Outer Limits

You must input your data in heirarchial order, like Title, Artist, Episode,
etc.........or better yet, you should enter your data in separate
columns....then sorting and Autofiltering become much easier.

Don, here is an example for my TV shows: The West Wing Season 1
Episode 1
Pilot
Episode 2
Post Hoc, etc.
Episode 3
A Proportional, etc
This is the order as it appears for all TV shows in column A. Consequently,
the title is under "T" and all episodes for each shows is alphabetized under
"E" sequentially.
Thanks,

My preceding email to the newsgroup did not display the way I wanted it to.
For the example given, Episode and title of episodes were to be on the same
line as they were appearing on Excel. However, I think I have a better
understanding as to what to do.
Thanks, C J
