Sony VAIO Desktop with SATA and XP

Has anyone else had or heard of problems with new Sony VAIO desktops and SATA
drives? It is going into the infinite reboot cycle. It gets to the Loading
Windows... and then restarts, on and on, forever, ad nasuem. When I've
encountered the problem on other computers, its been something busted in
Windows and a format--reinstall would fix it. This hasn't fixed the problem.
I have heard there is something specific to SATA drives you have to do, not
exactly sure what though. Anyone have any ideas?

You need to state whether:
1) It was supplied with a sata
2) The sata is a new data or boot drive and you are reinstalling
2b) If reinstalling via recovery disks or
3) The sata controler version
4) The sata hd version
