SONY DVD Driver

B

My Dell XPS M1210 no longer seems to be able to access my SONY DVD Model
DW-Q58A drive. The message I get under the device manager Properties for this
device is: "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The
driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)". Assuming the message is
correct, I assume I need to re-install the driver. Neither Dell nor Sony have
been able to help me (other than to suggest that I re-install XP, which seems
to be overkill to me. Is simply reinstalling the driver an option? If so,
where can I find it (Sony and Dell can't/won't help andI can't find it on
Mocrosoft's sites)? If not, what is the solution to my problem?

Thanks, Bob

You can no longer access the CD drive or the DVD drive:
or you get an error code 31
See: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;314060

XP does not recognize a DVD-RW disc
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/818733/en-us

Also:
Right click on the My Computer Icon on your desktop and select Manage and
select: Device Manager
(Or: Go to Start, then select 'Run' and in the Open field enter: devmgmt.msc
then click on the OK button)

After the Device Manager window opens, click the "+" to expand the
DVD/CD-Rom drives option.
Next, right-click on the DVD Drive you are having problems with and select
Uninstall.
You may be prompted to reboot your computer,
Reboot and Windows XP will re-install the DVD Drive.

Try uninstalling the hardware in device mgr, then shutdown pc,reconnect
device to another IDE connection (reset jumper pins as needed)..Also,while
sony doesnt supply drivers for the hardware, you will find firmware update
for the device at sony.com

You are an idiot and a big one at that. Code 39 is a known issue supported with a MS KB.

If you cannot give correct answers then do NOT give any at all. You mess up others computers with your idiotic suggestions
