Something weird here

I copied a vhs movie to my computer, and with my ATI tv tuner recorded
it as a avi file. Being new at this, I knew that I couldn't play this on
my dvd player in avi format, so i tried the SVCD mode. After completion,
I noticed that the exenstion said mpg...not svcd. Anyhow i tried to burn
it to my cd burner, and all i get is the audio of it, not the video. In
MM, by reading some responses here, I tried to resave it as a avi file
again and when I click on the one screen that is shown in the timeline
area, ( no clips ) I clik on " save movie file" it all comes up as
audio.and I get the hanging hourglass. BTW, I also noticed that of this
movie, my ATI tuner created an avd file and dip with it. I think one of
them is regarded as the audio part of this movie..but that is not the
file that I'm trying to resave as an avi. Its the large one, MPG. Does
any of this make sense?

What...exactly...are you trying to
accomplish and do you still have
the original .avi file you started with?

And...what program are you using
to burn the CD?

The original file is now mpg. Like i said, with Magix Movie for 2005
maker, I thought I would convert it to a svcd, so i can play it on my
dvd player..but it came out as a mpg. Is it possible to reverse it back
to avi?

When a file is converted to a different format,
the original file should still be intact in addition
to the new converted version. And...sorry but
I have no clue about Magix Movie.

Truth is...I really don't understand what you
are doing. Maybe someone else will offer
some assistance.

SVCD is an MPEG2 format. There is no such file extension as "svcd"
SVCD and VCD(mpeg1) will have the mpg extension.
The original AVI file, why did you think that authoring software
could not convert/copy it to CD/DVD?
Unless it was in a propriatory AVI file format such divx, which
I doubt your ATI capture card would produce, then all authoring/
burning software that I am aware of, would have easily taken the
original AVI file, converted it to reguired mpg and burned it to disk.
I'm not familiar with your authoring software.
I suspect you have done something wrong during the conversion
process from AVI to mpg, but it is impossible to guess from the
info you supply?
