Some Sites Blocked ...

Good Morning,
A few days ago I could access all websites with no problem. However, now a
few sites that I access on a regular basis display a "Cannot find server"
error page.

Network Configuration:

3 Computers are networked via a router that is connected to a broadband
connection. 2 of those computers are wireless. The problem computer is set
in the DMZ zone on the router.

Problem Computer Configuration:

My notebook is running Windows XP Home, w/ Service Pack 2 installed as well
as all windows updates. Mcafee Antivirus, and Mcafee firewall are all
installed w/ the lastest updates.

The Problem:

I cannot access certain sites on my notebook. However, when I attempt to
access those sites on the other 2 computers on the network they connect fine.
The two sites are www.bravenet.com, and adwords.google.com. At first I
thought it may be a problem w/ the firewall so I temporarly disabled it
however still didnt work. Also, I have ran a few spyware apps and they found
no spyware/adware.
Now, this is where it gets a little weird. When I attempt to ping either of
the two problem sites, their IP addresses resolve to: 127.0.0.1. Which
obviously is my computer. I am not running any server apps on my computer.
Which of course would explain the Cannot find server error. I have ran the
system scan for Mcafee, and even just tried a system restore back a few days,
but still nothing. I cannot figure out why it is resolving those sites to
localhost. I have also tried Mozilla FireFox, and still having problems.

Please if anyone can offer any assistence I would appreciate it! Thanks for
your time.

Best Regards,
Brian

Check for a file named HOSTS with no extension (not Hosts.sam). It may be a
hidden file. Open it with Notepad and remove any line referencing the site.
Or, rename HOSTS to OLDHOSTS

You may need toeliminate scumware.
CAUTION!!!!! Before you try to remove spyware using any of these programs ,
download a copy of LSPFIX from any of the following sites:
http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm
http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html
(if your OS is Win2k or XP) The process of removing certain malware may kill
your internet connection. If this should occur, this program, LSPFIX, will
enable you to regain your connection.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:
