Snow pixels while playing DOOM III

First I'd like to thank those that helped me with my
previous problem running DOOM III. Well, now I have a
new problem. While I'm playing DOOM III, I get a a lot
of snow like pixels all around my screen. I'm running on
a Radeon 9800 Pro 256MB vid card with the latest drivers,
1278MB of RAM, 2.8ghz Intel Processor, Soundblaster
Audigy 2 ZS Platinum, and running on XP Pro. The pixels
show up red or white most of time, and its really the
only game that I've seen this with thus far. Any ideas
on how to fix this? Thanks.

Hi

You're welcome Mantis! :) Did the manual install work?

Cheers,

No I'm not overclocking. And no, the manual install
didn't work. Though it probably would have if it wasn't
for another problem. I had called the publisher and from
what it seems, it was a bad copy. There were two setup
folders on the disc, and one of them was empty with
nothing but the setup folder copy several times within
the same folder. Seems as though the game was looking
for the file in that folder in instead of the actual
setup folder with the file it needed.

As for my system, I'm running 5 fans in my case at the
moment to try to keep this thing cool. I was thinking
about getting a better fan for my video card to see if
that helped, but I just don't know if it could be
something wrong with the video card itself. The reason I
say this is because sometimes the image, and I mean this
is just during regular boot of my machine, the image is
scrambled severely. Kind of broken like a bad signal
from a satilite dish. But when I reboot again, the image
returns to normal. I had played some other games on my
new system, and all seems to check out fine there. When
I called the support line of the game, they had suggested
it was because of the fact was previously using an
intergrated sound card at the time. I had blown out my
soundblaster audigy gamer previously on my older system
and was waiting on my audigy 2 ZS Plat to arrive, so I
was using the intergrated sound on my motherboard for the
moment. And I just got the sound card yesterday which it
did seem like it reduced the pixels, but they still
appear in small amounts. I was also thinking since I was
using my intergrated sound card, perhaps I should disable
it on the motherboard by switching the pins, so the sound
is going through the sound card, instead of the
motherboard. Another thing to note is that my system
monitor on temperature is measuring my second system zone
running hotter then the other two. My processor holds at
about 59 degrees, my first system zone holds at about 42,
and my second holds at about 62 to 65. Any suggestions?

Unfortunately no, but it probably would have it if wasn't
for another problem. I had called the publisher, and
through analysis, they concluded that the disc was a bad
copy. Basically, there were two setup folders instead of
one, and the second setup folder was just a folder with
the main directory of the install initialization and a
launcher copied several times within itself. Basically
the game was running the install process and trying to
access the blank folder for the files it needed, instead
of the actual setup folder with the files it needed.
Strange, but basically I had to get a new copy. It did
work for another friend of mine though that had the same
type of problem, except on disc 3. So it wasn't all for
not. Thanks again. :)
