SMJSMon.exe and spoolsv.exe swamp my processor

Anyone know what these things are? SMJSMon.exe and spoolsv.exe together are
taking 99% of my processor. If I kill either or both of them, I get my
computer back, but they restart within a few minutes. Newest Ad-Aware and
NAV both find nothing. Windows Search cannot find any such files on my
computer.

This happens even when no applications are running, and even right after
boot.

spoolsv.exe seems to be some print spooling thingie, but I have no print
jobs running or queued. SMJSMon.exe, I have no idea what it is. No info
seems to be on MS's site, and Google can't find anything on it either.

Anyone know what's going on?

I've been having several problems with this machine. Will reinstalling
Windows XP fix it up, or will that leave all the bad stuff in place?

I finally found something - smjsmon is a status monitor for Star Micronics, a printer mfr. But I installed that printer driver months ago! Why would it be acting up all of a sudden?

The printer itself has not been connected for a few months either, but I need to keep the driver because I'm writing apps for it, plus I do connect it from time to time.

SMJSMon.exe = sounds like a system monitor. Do you have any software that monitor your computer?
