Is it possible?

Please, never refer anyone to Hotbar! It is a bane on Outlook and any sane
user. ;)

Hi Oliver,
thanks for the idea, unfortunately hotbar tends to monitor your behaviour.
I was looking for a way of creating stuff myself.
thanks,
Chris

If you use Word as your editor in Outlook 2002 or 2003, it will convert the
Colon + End Parentheses into a smiley every time. :)

if you have your own collection of smiley graphics you could add them as
autotext entries when using Word as the email editor.

Hi Milly,
I'm not sure I follow.
Let me try again to explain what I'm trying to do.
You know how with MSN messenger you can send smiley's by clicking on a button.
I'm trying to do the same with Outlook - so that when I click on a contact I
can send a smiley.

G

Not really what I had in mind,
I was thinking more of something similar to Messenger's Smiley (send)
so more in the format of Instant messaging.
thanks any way.

have you actually tried using autotext (or autocomplete) for this? paste the
icons in a word doc, select one, create an autotext entry and move on to the
next icon. It's the best you'll do, short of using hotbar. It works quite
well actually...

Hi Milly,

I will never refer to Hotbar again. ;-)

I never installed this, because I don´t like HTML or animated mails. Thank
you for this information.

If you were to use something like "smileycentral.com", I believe that they
insert a drop down on your toolbar for you.

When I type :), it does not convert it to a smiley face...I have checked the
autocorrect entries and it comes up with a J in my email. I'm going
crazy...any help? Thanks.

Longshot I would rename or delete Normal.dot, be warned though that if you
delete it then any customisation of the normal word template will be lost,
maybe better renaming it so you can restore it if my suggestion didn't work.

When you renamed or deleted it did you make sure that Outlook and Word were
closed and not being listed in the running processes of Task Manager. It is
usually located in your user profile under Document and Settings, but you
should be able to check that its the right one by the modified date and
time.

help me anymore, I can understand. Can you give me a step by step
