Slow start up and slow programs

Hi there

My computer was running pretty slow so I cleared out
Temporary Internet Files, ran defrag, ran antivirus,
checked for parasites, ran adaware and checked msconfig
as well. Now my computer is extremely slow starting up.
I'm not sure what programs are what in msconfig - did I
mess something up? Help!

Hi Don,

Have you checked that you don't have malware installed using Ad-aware
or Spybot?

You can also download Bootvis from Microsoft. It is a Boot performance
trace visualization tool for use with XP. It gives an overview of
what processes are doing what and when during boot and allows you to
optimize your boot up:

Hope this helps.
