SLOW STAR UP!

When I start my computer it takes up to 5 minutes before
my dest top appears.also it is slow going to a web site.
I have an xp system, an just installed a noton virus
protector .Can you help me. I am a novice with the
computer so please don't get to techincal. Thanks in
advance.

Start/Run/type MSCONFIG and click Enter
Click the Startup tab - now uncheck/disable every item that is
checked except your anti-virus program, if Norton, it will start with NAV
Click Apply and Close - now reboot
Disabling does not delete any program, it only stops them from starting at
boot time using up valuable system resources and slowing your system down
to a crawl. All your icons can be clicked to start any program. Have fun.
