slow printing

I have windows xp home. I have a lexmark x63 printer. It takes over 30
seconds to print any request even a test page. I have uninstalled and
reinstalled the printer. I have changed usb ports. I have been to the
lexmark website to see if there are new drivers available zero. Any
suggestions as to what can be done to speed up the process. I tripled my ram
since this problem began thinking I was low. I have defragged, checked for
spyware and viruses as well. I have checked the printer set-up. It doesn't
matter what resolution it is set at. I have changed to black only. I have
tried when only thing open is printer file. Nothing seems to help. HELP,
thank you

Hmmm. Perhaps your speed problems stem from the fact that the X63 printer
is simply a slow machine. The text below was extracted from an X63 review.

"Now, let's talk about the bad points. First of all, this printer isn't very fast.
Using black & white print speeds the process up a little bit, but it is still quite
slow and you need to exercise patience while you wait for the pages to feed
onto the output tray in the front. Not only is the regular printing slow, but so
are the copying and scanning functions. With copying, there are four options
and only the "quick" setting moves at a fast clip. But it is also the lowest in
quality and it can only be used when printing black & white copies. If you
want color or photo quality, you will have to wait more than twice as long
for this lethargic printer to produce your copy."

I have the very same problem, this info may help when useing sp1 the laxmark
x63 ran perfectly and was fast as any other printer. I have done all that
you did to no avail. I guess we will just have to live with it, i have
purchased my last lexmark product. If you find out any new info please let me
know.
