slow print on panasonic KXP1092

I have an old Panasonic KXP1092 dot matrix printer that was being run by
Paradox DOS program. It prints as the carriage goes both directions. I
have that same printer set up to print from winXP / Access 2000 and now
it only prints as the carriage goes to the right. Half as fast. How do
I correct that with out buying a new printer. And, if I must buy a new
printer, it has to be dot matrix to print my 3 part form.

TIA

Usually, bi-directional printing is an option in a windows driver for a dot
matrix and bubble/ink jet printers.
You need to poke around in the printer driver tabs and windows. Many also
have a bi-directional data option. That has nothing to do with the carrage
movement. The setting may have different labels, such as high speed
printing, or a setting that is not high quality.
The reasoning behind such is that the head indexing is not as good with
bi-directional printing.

You may consider using the Epson LQ-2500 drivers as a generic workaround..
I've used it on several panasonic KX series printers with good success..
