Slow Opening Desktop Shortcuts

I have a user on my network that is having a problem opening shortcuts on his
desktop. You double click a folder and it takes about 15-30 seconds for it
to open. But if you have a document saved directly on the desktop it opens
right up. Any suggestions? I'd appreciate it!

Thanks,
Dave

If the shortcuts are to network locations, it could be a network issue. Is
the user in a remote location from the network files and folders referenced
by the shortcuts?

Some of the shortcuts are network locations, but the other shortcuts are to
folders located in My Documents. I tested his cabling and it call passed
with flying colors.

I'm having exactly the same problem. I have a network at home with two
desktops and 1 laptop. On the computer I am working on it is exactly as you
describe, but I have no such problems with the other two computers. I have
found that if I disable the network adapter, the problem disappears!
Updating the driver for my Dell wireless USB adapter did not help. Neither
did a replacement adapter from Dell. It is very frustrating to have to
disable/enable my network connection.

Dell suggested reinstalling Windows on this computer. I really want to
avoid that route. Any other thoughts or ideas?
