Slow MPEG2 Imports

Is it normal for Movie Maker to take a few minutes
to import a 7 minute, 360MB MPEG2 video clip on a
computer with a 2.4GHz P4 and 1GB of memory?

Yes. Plus you will find that the MPEG2 file, even though you can import it,
will not work in the end. It will either cause problems on the timeline or
when you try to save your movie to your harddrive. It is best to convert
them to AVI and import the AVI into Movie Maker.
