Slow login after applying Rollup 1 for Windows 2000 SP4

Hi,

It seems that after applying Rollup 1 for Windows 2000 SP4 to my 2000
serve,
my workstations take along time to attach. When U power up the
workstations
it takes 15 secs to prepare network connections, 15 secs applying security
settings and a whopping 90 secs to login. It continues to be slow after
login when they access files on the server. I have updated the NIC
drivers,
check the port on the switch and changed the nic and the switch form Auto
to
100 full. Nothing seemed to of helped.

Any ideas, would be greatly appreciated.

I had already removed the APC software running on the server and that did
not resolve it. Any other thoughts?

Hi,

We had a similar problem, and it was because we are running Sophos
anti-virus. After excluding some of the new low-level files from the
on-access scan, it all now works correctly.

First thing to do is check your Event log (after it finnally logs in) and
see if there's any errors in there.

The new V2 of this rollup is now available.
