Slipstream SP4 to RIS image & c0000135.dll error

Everyone,
I slipstreamed SP4 onto two RIS servers and whenever I RIS a
workstation I get this error after the first phase where it copies the files
and then reboots. I get a blue screen of death. I used the same procedure
that you would use to slipstream as I did for SP2 and SP3. Searched
Microsoft and came up with nada. Anyone have any ideas?
I saw where someone suggested to Pascal that you cannot
slipstream SP4, I have seen nothing to make me believe that. If true than
Microsoft is made up of a bunch of idiots for 1. Changing an installation
method with no known documentation. 2. For allowing slipstream switches to
work on a service pack that does not support slipstreaming to an image.
So if anyone has any ideas I am all ears.

I am having exactly the same problem.
STOP: c0000135 {Unable To Locate DLL}
The dynamic link library winsrv could not be found in the
specified path Default Load Path.

on the first reboot.

I am yet to find a solution.

I would be very interested to know if Microsoft plan to
fix this....

Jeremy,

Have you considered the fact that maybe your RIS Server
needs to be a SP4? How I have normally done things is as
follows:

Create a RIS Server at WIN2000 SP3. Create the RIS image
with WIN2000 Pro assimilated with SP3. Then, create the
images for WIN2000 SP2 and WIN2000 SP1.

So, if you want SP4 you need your RIS Server to be at
WIN2000 SP4. Then, create your RIS image with WIN2000 Pro
assimilated with SP4. Then, create your WIN2000 SP3 and
WIN2000 SP2 images....

HTH,

Cary,
I patched my RIS Windows 2000 Servers with SP4 long ago and long
before I updated the RIS image from SP3 to SP4. Good thought but does not
help.

slipstreaming works fine with SP4 with RIS.
so does making a W2K SP4 bootable CD.
did you upgrade the server to SP4 or is this a clean install of SP4 on the
server.
how did you sliptream the images, did you start witha clean w2k pro image ?

Ok, Iam not sure what is going worng,
1: what was the BS of D

2: what hardware is on the server, pre & post OS install

3: are you virus free & patched on the server.

4: what if any error logs are you getting on the server

Ok. After playing about with this for what seems like
hours.... here's your solution:

The problem seems to occur because you're probably
slipstreaming SP4 into the RIS image that's already on
the RIS server whereas what needs to be done is to
do the following:

On the 2000 server:

1) Create a directory called e:\2000pro.sp4 or
equivalent.
2) Copy the entire contents of the i386 directory
from the 2000pro installation CD to this new folder.
3) Run w2ksp4_en.exe -s:e:\2000pro.sp4
4) Build your RIS image from this new directories
i386 image and not from the one on the CD and

Good luck!

this is what I was thinking , but who would try this on
a server image ? what ever, what ever.........................
clean CD non SP image's only for slipstreaming...........
