Sleep Mode Problems!

My Computer screen keeps going into Sleep Mode. My power save settings are
all correct. The monitor is working fine. So not sure what to try next.
One week ago, I installed "Luxor by Mumbo Jumbo" Seems like the problem
started then. I have since unistalled Luxor, but the problem is still
there. Screen just goes blank for a few seconds, then comes back, then
blank, then back... then after awhile, screen goes blank and indicates it is
in the powersave mode. pressing a key or moving a mouse does nothing...
Only thing I can do is hit the power buttone and reboot. Help Please!

All are disabled. This is more than just power settings I believe....
when I am able to keep it awake for a few moments, it seems to "freeze" for
10 seconds or so off an on.. does this over and over until eventually, it
goes into sleep mode. I don't know what to try next.

What do you mean by 'blank'? Does screen shut off? (goes dark).
Have you checked for any possible overheating?
Power scheme is not disabled. You select 'always on' 'home/desk' etc.Yours
is set to??????

Let's go back to square 1

I've got a very frustrating Computer Problem that I am unable to clear up.
It started about 3-4 weeks ago. Thinking back to events around that time. 1
- I installed Luxor (by Mumbo Jumbo). 2 - Received an automatic MS Window's
update. 3 - had a short power outage. I have no idea if any of these are
related to my current problem.

I appreciate your thoughts on what the problem might be and/or other things
to try. Seems like it is related to video, or perhaps a resource issue?

Problem(s)
- from time to time, my computer screen will go blank and appears to be in
the sleep mode (green power light turns amber). Only way to "wake it up" is
to hit the power button and reboot.
- as I move about different application, the screen will temporarily go
blank (2-3 seconds). This seems to happen most frequently when I am
opening/viewing some sort of video clip.
- I will be typing along and the computer “freezes†. To unfreeze, I jump
to another application then jump right back…. This usually works.
- since this happened, my computer takes a very long time to completely boot
up. Seems like it is taking 15 minutes or so to completely boot up.
- I've run all the diagnostic tools I have with Norton System Works and
Norton Internet Security. Did not turn up anything.

What I've tried so far
- uninstalled Luxor
- uninstalled Skype (it seems this was perhaps causing the very slow boot up).
- ran chkdsk and de-fragmented my hard drive - this seemed to help some.
blank screens seem to be less frequent.

My hardware/software:
Dell Dimension 8300
Windows XP 5.01.2006 Service Pack 3
Memory 1023 MB
Intel Pentium 4 3GHz
