Just encountered a minor glitch in Dawnguard. This isn't a spoiler. Fairly early on you rescue a young lady and take her home. Her home is where the vampires hang out and it's at that stage you make a choice whether to be a vampire or member of the Dawnguard vampire hunters.

I chose Dawnguard and then had to make my way back to see the Dawnguard leader, Isran. A couple of diversions and sidequests later I arrived back at Isran's castle only to see him having a ruck outside the maingate with two or three vampires.

So I waded in but accidentally gave Isran a bonk on the bonce with my massive great Warhammer. He didn't like that and so tried to kill me. Hmm, this is the fella I'm supposed to talk to but I can't, looks like I'm stuck. You can't kill Isran btw, just stun him for a minute or so.

So I looked online and seems a fair few people are complaining about this and no solutions have been forthcoming from Bethesda, forums or Wikis (Bethesda probably because they didn't write Dwnguard, just aproved it). Then I remembered a similar thing happening early on in Skyrim and remembered what I did then.

What you basically is stun Isran, then run away far enough so you're out of range of an enemy and can thus fast travel. Fast travel to anywhere, I done a side quest, or just use the time facility to rest and stay away from Castle Dawnguard for at least 24 hours.

Then when you return, Isran has stopped trying to chop yer gonads off and is all friendly and lovely. So then you talk with him and off you go on a mission.

So to sum up, if a supposed friendly turns hostile, bugger off for at least 24 hours and return.

Excellent, are you planning on modding it?

Ooooh, that reminds me.

Hearthfire is out now if you haven't already noticed...

http://store.steampowered.com/app/220760/

About the Game

With this official add-on to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, you can purchase land and build your own home from the ground up - from a simple one-room cottage to a sprawling compound complete with an armory, alchemy laboratory, stable, garden, and more. Use all-new tools like the drafting table and carpenter’s workbench to transform quarried stone, clay, and sawn logs into structures and furnishings. Even transform your house into a home by adopting children.

Key features:

Choose Your Land - Choose from property in the salt marshes of Hjaalmarch, the forests of Falkreath, or the vast tundra of The Pale. For the more ambitious landowner, purchase multiple plots and start building a real estate empire.

Customize Your Home – Expand your home with a variety of room combinations including an armory, alchemy tower, kitchen, trophy room and more. Grow plants in your new greenhouse, cultivate slaughterfish in the fish hatchery, house your Arcane Enchanter in the enchanting tower, or display your latest conquest in the trophy room. Add additional features like stables, mills, smelters, gardens and more.

New Objectives and Interactions – Guard your home from unwanted visitors like marauding kidnappers, armed bandits, and skeever infestations. Turn almost any follower into your personal steward to improve and protect your home. Or if you require more help, hire a personal bard or carriage driver to ease the burdens of home ownership.

Adoption – Transform your house into a home with Hearthfire’s all-new adoption system. Adopt children and discover new ways to interact with your family. Play games with the kids, allow them to have pets and gain new bonuses from having a family.

Hearthfire - £3.49.

And most of it can be done in Skyrim anyway though must confess if you're impatient this is a good shortcut.

Yup. Already got the HD graphics, and I was thinking of downloading that UI one that you suggested. Any others worth doing?

Loads! :D

Obviously use Nexus Mod Manager as it makes it so much easier, and make sure you install SKSE (some mods rely on it, SkyUI for one ;) ), theres a vid i posted a while back in her e somewhere....

When i get home i'll go though my mod list. But the top three here are a must, infact, you could go down that list and just pick the ones you like the look of as almost all of them are good mods.

Along with these...

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/8655
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/193
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/141
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/13268
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/17802 - You must use this!
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/19
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/23491 - If you have Dawnguard
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/25127 - If you have Hearthfire

Also this is one i installed this weekend, is well worth a look.

Also, run this after installing any mods, with NMM closed, it will sort out your load order, which with help mods clashing and/or crashing the game. ;)

Install this like any other program, not via NMM

Theres a load more that i could link to, but you get the idea. :)

I'll post up my full mod list later.

It's super addictive....i have clocked up almost 500 hours. I had to force myself to stop because my life was on hold.

Having said that , Enjoy.
Lets know what you think of it.

Thought I was bad - 82 hours played - but some folks... lol

I have a fair few mods installed including SkyUI and also bought Dawnguard - well worth the price imo.

Skyrim is the ONLY game I've ever pre-ordered, got it from Amazon for a few quid less than Steam and the disk arrived 2 days before release date and unlocked on release date.

I've finished main game but I know there's a lot more I could do, still have lottsa side missions and undiscovered places to go to. Playing Dawnguard atm, a very worthy expansion, imo.

I tend to not play Skyrim for a month or so then go back and get lost completely in it for a coupla weeks.

Great game :)

Blimey you weren't kidding!!

I've already got the hi-res graphics thingy, and I'm not really fussed about improving it further. However I'll definitely improve the interface where I can so I might give some of the others a go :)

500??! I'd better be careful about this addiction!

I have tried to install the 4 HD texture packs but as you can see from enclosed pic I can only seem to activate one. Whichever one I double click on to activate goes through the motions of installing then that one is the only one ticked. I have tried all 4 of them.

Doesn't seem right to me, any idea if this is correct?

What you need to do is activate the next one and when the warning box pops up just say no and it will install the next part as a new mod. :)

Haha, yeah but i was telling Bex. :D

But yes, thats usually the process if the mod has more than one file, or some extras etc. :)
