Size of the blinking cursor is much too wide

The cursor in several of my programs - Outlook Express, Notepad - is very
wide. About 4 or 5 times the width of a normal blinking cursor.

Do not know how this happened but would like to change it back to the normal
thin cursor. Have looked around in the control panel but cannot find any
thing that might change it back.

Use Windows XP (service pack 3)

im pretty sure i know what your talking about,

go into your control panel and click accessibility options,

go to the display tab and in the bottom section there should be an area to
change the size of your cursor
