single print job generates many print jobs

I'm not even sure if this is an Excel question or a printer question. We
have 1 workbook with 21 worksheets. Each worksheet is a 1 pager. When we
"print entire workbook", 7 different print jobs show up in the printer queue:
1 with 4 pages, 1 with 3, 1 with 10, and the other 4 are all single page
jobs. (for a total of 21) Also, the printer is excruciatingly slow on some
pages of the job and prints just fine on others.

Does this make any sense? We have similar workbooks which print fine and
only generate 1 document in the printer queue.

I did learn that some of the cells in the spreadsheet have more than 255
characters because the author used spaces to wrap text within a cell.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you,
