SideWinder Gamepad won't work

Is there anyway to make a sidewinder gamepad, which was
designed to windows 95 to work in windows xp home? If
there isn't, there really should be (it worked also in
windows ME)

Plug it in, go to Control Panel/Game Controllers and Add. Then select
Microsoft SideWinder (Auto Detect). It'll install the proper drivers. What
you lose is the ability to program the buttons or create "profiles" at that
location. You can still create those on a per-game basis, if the game
supports it. The 3.x software for the controller can no longer be installed
because it is written in an unsupported .vxd format.
