shutdown/screensaver/hibernation

I have windows xp Professional and if i set the timeout more than 1 or 2
minutes,
xp pro will Not shutdown,standby, or go to screensaver. I have been
discussing this with a Microsoft Professional and we cannot correct this
problem. i have formatted and reinstalled xp pro two times. It worked ok with
XP Home edition. (SP2). Thank you. Does anyone else have a clue??
