I recently noticed an issue when shutting down my PC running XP Pro SP2.
When I go to Start->Shut Down, it take several minutes for the shut down menu
to appear. From there it is a little slow to shut down, but not terrible. I
very rarely shut down the machine, so I have no idea when it actually
started. I am running virus and adware free right now and experience the
problem even if I disconnect the ethernet cable from the PC. It seems that
most articles I have found relating to slow shut downs are in regards to what
happens after selecting from Log Off, Shut Down, or Restart. I would greatly
appreciate any help or suggestions anyone can offer.
