show folder as e-mail address book

Good morning,

I am trying to setup a new user in Outlook. She created some contact in the
Contacts folder. She then asked why they didn't show up in the address book.
I then proceeded to go into the Contacts properties-Outlook Address Book and
wanted to check the "show this folder as an e-mail address book". However,
the checkbox is greyed out and cannot be checked. What is wrong, why is the
option disabled? What needs to be done to correct this issue? Is there
another way to make the Contacts shows in the address book when composing
e-mails?

Thank you,

Daniel

Hi Daniel,

you must add the Outlook Addresssbook as Outlook service. Which Outlook
version are you using?

In Outlook 2002/2003 go under "Tools/Email accounts/show available
Directories and Addressbooks" (or something simular) and add here an Outlook
Addressbook.

Restart Outlook and after this restart the checkbox is no more greyed out.

It changes the directions for how you add the Outlook Address Book Service.
It wasn't really a necessary question since in IMO you have no option to add
or remove the Outlook Address Book Service.
In Corp/Workgroup mode:
Go to Tools > Services. Make sure the Outlook Address Book service is
listed. If not, add it. Next, R click on the Contact folder or folders you
want the OAB to display, choose "Properties", go to the Outlook Address Book
tab and check the "Show this folder as an E-mail address book" box. You may
also need to go to Tools > Options > Addressing Tab and choose to show your
Contacts folder.
