Should I have to use a needle-nosed pliers and a letter-opener to unjam a Samsung ML-2150?

Folks (this time with the message body),

I would like suggestions for (1) how to remove the paper jam with less
effort than I did, and (2) how to avoid this problem in the future.
Barring (2), can you (3) teach me some Korean swear words.

My ML-2150 encountered a Jam 2, paper jam near the printer exit area.
The only way to extract the jammed paper was to use a needle-nosed
pliers to pull on the paper, and the letter-opener to pry a part of
the paper away from the rollers. It took about 15 minutes to extract
the paper.

This seems wrong. What happened was that the jammed paper got caught
somehow and crumpled up completely in a very small space. The user
manual offers no clue to how to extract paper in this situation.

I didn't want to start disassembling the printer just to get the paper
out. Is there some way, short of disassembling the printer, that I
can release one of the rollers, so that I can remove the paper
_easily_.

Fortunately for me, this was the first paper jam in probably 4000
prints. But if it happens once, it could happen again.

About a week ago, after a very frustrating time with several tools to
unjam my printer, I wrote the following in the hope that someone out
there in usenet-land would respond.

Can anyone answer this question?

I don't have a specific answer, but has it jammed again since then?

Oh, and does removing the toner cartridge and/or drum make a difference?

This jam has happened only once, so far < BSEG>

Coincidentally, I need to replace the cartridge. This is the
4000-print "starter" cartridge which came with the printer.

Now, a bit before this jam, prints started looking very light, so I
removed the cartridge and shook it and rolled it around. Is it
possible that not putting in the cartridge right would cause the jam?

I would say yes, since the paper runs past the cartridge on a series of
rollers. Maybe it wasn't quite in properly, and poking around in there
with pliers fixed it.

Personally, I prefer to use the official gentle persuader - a hammer.

Dunno about your idea. The jam occurred at the back of the printer,
where the paper passes through some rollers and exits. The print
cartridge occupies the front half of the printer body, and there is
some kind of metal "bar" between the cartridge area and the rollers
where the paper got jammed.

IF it were possible to remove this "bar," then it would have been
loads easier to pull out the jammed paper. Loads easier, but the bar
seemed to be fixed in place, and I didn't want to attack the printer
with a Phillips screwdriver to take off the plastic covers, etc., etc.

I like to use, or I should say, I _wish_ I could use that persuader
with most of the sales people at Fry's Electronics. :)

Well I don't know what to say...perhaps it was just a bit of humidity?

You can...it's the police that have an issue with it, not me.
