should hidden dllcache folder contain executables?

I have XP. In C:\windows\system32 I have a dllcache folder which contains
dll files but also a lot of exe files. Exe files such as explorer.exe,
iexplore.exe, regedit.exe. Should copies of these executables be in a
dllcache folder? I read that iexplore.exe and explorer.exe found in this
dllcache folder are trojans that take over the real Microsoft explorer.exe
and iexplore.exe. Does anyone know if this is true or not?

Just delete all the files in this folder and reboot. As you use your system
the contents of the folder will be re-created. Anything bad in there will be
eliminated with the deletion.

Yes they should exist in that location. They are "backups" and the system
uses them to verify the integrity of system files.

Yes these files should be there. The files are used for the Windows File
Protection feature.

You could purge the dllcache folder by using the System File Checker. Read
