No dllCache folder in Win2kPro - Why not?

Hi there,

In another question re MSjava VM it was suggested I compare values in
system32 and the dllcache folder. I don't appear to have such a folder!
(system installed from CD)

MS site says:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
The default value data for the SFCDllCacheDir value is
%SystemRoot%\System32. The SFCDllCacheDir value can be a local path. By
default, the SFCDllCacheDir value is not listed in the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
registry key. To modify the cache location, you must add this value.

Should I have a dllcache folder or has this option been "turned off" in some
way please? Can I create a dllCache folder?

Thanks, Mel P

BTW, did you go to the website that I previously recommended to see if you're
actually having a problem with java?

Hi wayfarrer,

Re(1) - thanks - haven't noticed that tick box before! The 3 MSJVM Files in
dllCache are version 3810 whilst the original files were 3229 and I have now
put 3810 in system32 manually. Puzzle is why the SFC did not update them in
system32

As I do not have a "SFCScan" registry key perhaps the scan does not take
place? The reg key "SFCDisable" is there and set to 0 - presumably enabled?

Re(2). Your recc site and the Sun Java site showed both Sun Java and MS Java
work. Thanks.
