Shortcuts in Outlook 2007

We just upgraded several machines from 2002 to 2007. Saved Settings before
conversion. All shortcuts were there when upgrade completed. Then one of
the machines just up and lost the shortcuts and reinstalling the settings
doesn't restore them. Another machine still has the groups but all the
folders are gone. While another machine works just fine. Why does it up and
lose the shortcuts and not be able to restore them when it restored them fine
when initially upgraded? Anyone run into this?

Did you create new mail profiles during the upgrade? If you're using PSTs,
did you convert them to Unicode PSTs?

No, we didn't create new profiles or do any conversions, just installed the
upgrade and it found the pst file - I assume from this that I need to convert
my pst's to unicode (my machine that was fine up and lost it's shortcuts a
couple of days ago) - how do I do that? Thanks for your help

No, we didn't create new profiles or do any conversions, just installed

upgrade and it found the pst file -

You should alway start with a new mail profile when upgrading versions.

Outlook never automatically changes the PST format. You must do that

Thank you for your help, I will convert them. Does 2007 have a new feature
that allows you to open the same pst file at the same time from two
locations? Our current system has the pst files located on the server so the
employee can use it either on their desktop or in a terminal session. This
has worked fine in the past unless they forget to close it on their desktop,
then they can't open it from the terminal session. Since we have gone to
2007 we have discovered that if they leave it open on their desktops (2007)
they can also open in it a terminal session (2003) at the same time. How can
that be?

No it doesn't

You have been EXTREMELY lucky. MS does NOT support the use of pst files over
a network. One of the main reasons for this is that Outlook requires
constant read/write access to a pst file. If there is even a miniscule
hiccough in the network while that read/write is occurring then the pst file
is very likely to become corrupted.
