Shortcut Errors Constantly Found by Norton Utilities

I run Norton Utilities (One Button Check-UP) everyday and 90 percent of the
time Norton says that it found "shortcut errors" and fixes them. Is there
something that I can do to eliminate the creation of the errors?

I am running WIN XP Home with SP 1 and SP2.

I have had this problem for a long time, before SP2 and before SP1.

Thanks for your help.

Have you kept track of _which_ shortcut errors are being complained
about? If it is the same one(s) every time then giving that information
might allow someone here to do more than make a wild guess about problem.

But just to get the ball rolling: if you run OBCU twice in a row does
the same error show up? It might be that the shortcut is one that you
don't have permission to delete. Or it might be that some running
program is re-creating the same shortcut when it notices that the old
one is gone. The latter seems unlikely but when dealing with PCs one
never knows.

Contact the Author of the program you are having a problem with and
request that it be fixed.

Sorry...for the earlier post mistake. The same error does not show up twice
in a row. It does not seem to be created by a program...rather from moving
and deleating data files. So...I guess the program would be MS Exporer.
