Sharp Camcorder Not Connecting

I seem to have a similar problem to that reported by Cari. Movie Maker is
not responding or recognizing the connnection with my Sharp VL-NZ100
camcorder. It had connected to it in the past (last time about 2 weeks ago)
and downloaded several videos using a firewire.

All of the sudden it stopped recognizing the connection. I purchased a new
firewire, assuming that was the problem but still no success. I have also
downloaded Microsoft's service packs, as instructed in
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/826377/en-us. Still no luck.

Any other suggestions?

Try the camera with your firewire cable on another computer to see if it
works.
If it does then the problem may be with the firewire card in your computer
not the cable.
