I have a Belkin 5E Patch Cable UTP 4 PR .... it is supposably suppose to help
my connect to another persons computer and share my music files. I pluged
both ends of the cable into both computers. Both computers did not
automaticly detect the cable. We both have windows. I have XP. I think he has
a 98. Should work right? But how do detect and run something to share the
files. i do not want to make a network.

I'm not much of a networking person, but a crossover cable should work. Will
these computers be connected all the time? If so, just buy a cheap router.

If you already have a wireless connection, then you should be able to connect to
the other PC in "My Network Places".

If you already have a wireless connection, such as one for sharing Internet
access, you can create a new network by using one of the selections in the task
pane in My Network Places.
