First I upgraded to Windows XP Pro. Had to do it from boot CD, because my
computer wouldn't boot up. After install the computer wouldn't boot up
without
th Windows XP Upgrade Disk in the CD ROM Drive, When ever I tried to boot
from
the Hard Drive only I received this Message
Windows could not start because of following ARC firmware boot configuration
problem: did not properly generate ARC name for HAL and system paths.
Please
check the windows documentation about ARC configuration options and your
hardware reference manuals for additional information.
I tried re upgrading windows 6 times. I finally thought the problem could
be my
Hard Drive. So I bought a new 120 GB Maxtor Hard Drive. And bought a new
OEM
Windows XP Pro CD ROM Disk Package. I then Installed Windows XP Pro OEM on
the
new clean/bare 120 GB Maxtor and got the same damn statement.
Windows could not start because of following ARC firmware boot configuration
problem: did not properly generate ARC name for HAL and system paths.
Please
check the windows documentation about ARC configuration options and your
hardware reference manuals for additional information.
I tried reinstalling Windows XP 3 more times. The only way I can boot my
computer is with the Windows XP Pro CD ROM Disk in the CD ROM Drive.
HELP!!!
Thank You
Grandpa

PS Yes I did reconfigure CMOS to boot from the Hard Drive, but had to
change it
back again to boot from the CD ROM each time
