Setup is very slow

I am trying to install Windows XP Professional SP1 from a
Distribution point but the file copy part of the setup is
very slow.

Once setup starts, (Blue Screen) The machine copies some
file and then a message "please wait while setup copies
the files to your hard drive" is displayed. The machine's
hard drive light is on, but it is not coping any files
from the distribution point server. after about 45min the
yellow copy progress bar does appear, and the copy starts
but is very very slow.

I have tried this with a FAT and FAT32 formated drive.

This part of the setup (running on the same PC from the
same distibution server) using windows 2000 pro source
takes only 5min.

Any ideas why it takes so long with XP pro?

If you have access to Windows PE (requires SA or EA license agreement)
you can use this as your deployment platform.

Windows PE is a very fast copying files over the network as well as
launching the setup (winnt32.exe since it a 32-bit os). No more
smartdrive and memory issues...:)
