Have tried installing some programs on my computer and every now and then, a
few of the programs will not install. I can run the setup.exe file and goes
through the motions, but then nothing happens. On others, if I run setup.exe
it just acts like it will run but then nothing happens.

One of the programs was installed, but when I go to run the application,
nothing happens.

Any help is appreciated.

I have xp pro SP2, and I have the same problem, I bought my computer Sep 16th
and came with xp home, then I upgraded it to XP pro version, then i install
sp1 and sp2. now my some setup programs and some applications(installed) dont
respond. including yahoo messenger setup. please help, im so tired of this
now..

Why would you install SP1 & SP2, just SP2 will do it covers everything.
You may need to carry out a repair install
