Setting up IP address on XP RD

P

Paul Richards

I need to access a host PC remotely using Remote Desktop. The remote PC
will access the host via a broadband internet connection. I understand
that the remote PC has to call the public IP address of the host PC.

How do I get this and does it remain static?

TIA

Paul

It depends on the ISP and the account type. Personally I have a DHCP
assigned IP from my ISP and my solution is to use No-IP.com a free dynamic
DNS service. I setup a fully qualified domain name and call my home LAN
using that. Go to...

Remember to use a *STRONG* pass word or run RDP through a VPN or Secure
Shell (SSH) tunnel for added security...
