Setting up DNS on Second Active Directory DC

K

KJ

We built our first AD domain controller with AD
integrated DNS. We built our second AD box exisiting in
the same domain and setup AD integrated DNS but were not
sure of how to configure all the settings. The are our
configurations for DNS:

-TCP/IP settings: static IP, DNS address on each server
pointing to itself. (wasn't sure if the secondary server
should be pointing to itself or to the primary OR have
both addresses listed)...

-The second DNS server has an exact copy of what was on
the primary server.

-Setup zone transfers between the servers listed under
name servers

-Dynamic updates allowed

-on the SOA tab each server is setup as the primary
(should the seconday have the primary DNS server listed?)

Thanks for your help

Hello, The Secondary Server may should have there own IP address as first
DNS , and the Primary one as second DNS. If you just added the Primary
address, there is no idea to have more than one DNS. if you lose your first
DNS, the second server and the second dns can work fine with out the primary
one.
