Requesting your help with my two problems
I am emailing requesting your help with my two problems. How to set my self
as the administrator with installing privileges on my stand-alone PC.

Problem 1: Setting Up Administrative Privileges on My Computer
Email me at: (e-mail address removed)
I can't install programs on my computer and I am using Microsoft Windows XP
Professional XP SP2 on an HP dx6100 Microtower. Each time I install software
on my computer it does not install. When I try to install Macromedia
Contribute 3.11 and FlashPaper 2 I receive a message. Macromedia Contribute
3.11 Installer Information. 1: "Failed to Install ISKernel Files". "Make sure
you have appropriate privileges on this machine OK". The wizard was
interrupted before Macromedia Contribute 3 could be completely installed.
Your system has not been modified. For example I have tried installing
Macromedia Contribute 3.11 and Macromedia FlashPaper 2 and the installation
is failing. Please email me the procedures/steps I should do on my Windows XP
Professional SP2 so that I am the administrator and acquire administrative
privileges so that I am able to create an installation that will always
install software each time I start installing software on my Computer. Its
only one computer no network is involved. I need to know the steps I should
take on my Computer to Acquire Administrative Privileges so that I can
install certain programs on my computer. I do not have administrative
privileges on my computer on which I
want to install new software. I always find that the installation procedure
simply fails. Please how should set the administrative privilege on my PC so
that I can I install software? Software is not installing on my computer.
What other things might be preventing software to install on my Computer I
also use, Microsoft Windows Defender formerly Windows AntiSpyware, McAfee
Internet Security Suite which include McAfee Virus Scan, McAfee Personal
Firewall Plus, McAfee Spamkiller, McAfee Privacy Service, My Windows XP
Service Pack 2 and Internet Explorer have also got Windows Firewall, Popu-up
Blocker, Windows Security Centre etc

Problem 2: Start Button and All Icons on My Monitor have reversed possibly
after pressing Ctrl, Alt or other keys by mistake, since the key board is not
locked this might be the cause of the reversing of the Start Button and
Icons. Start Button has reversed and appear on the right hand side bottom
corner of my monitor instead of appearing on the left hand side bottom corner
of the monitor and all icons appear horizontally to the left of the reversed
Start Button. When I start my computer I always notice that Start Button has
reversed and appear on the right hand side bottom of my monitor, instead of
appearing on the left hand side and all icons are appearing horizontally to
the left side of the reversed Start Button. I would like to restore the
altered Start Button and icons to their original position. Which appropriate
methods should I use to do this? Start Button (All Programs) on my Monitor
has been reversed to the right hand side and the Icons on the monitor are now
arranged horizontally to the left of Start. I want Start to be reversed to
the original position the left hand side and the Icons should appear
vertically above the Start. Please help me with the solutions to help solve
my problem. Start and All Icons on My Monitor have reversed. I want to
restore them to their previous state. Please help me to do this.

I am facing untold difficulties I have to turn my monitor the other way
round so that Start can appear at the left hand side bottom corner of the
monitor to enable me to click the start button and begin using the monitor
when I have logged on. Please I want Start and all the Icons on my Monitor to
return to their original state on the left hand side bottom corner of the
monitor. I should be very grateful. Please help me solve my two problems.

(snip extremely long and convoluted post)

You've posted this before. If you got no answers to your previous post,
it is probably for the same reason I'm not going to deal with it.

1. This is not email. This is Usenet. This is not Microsoft tech
support. Your post is impossible to read. Maybe you'll find someone
willing to slog through it, but it is unlikely.

2. Ask one question at a time, clearly and concisely. Use numbered or
bulleted points if necessary.

I'll give you links to help you learn about Usenet and how to post, but
you may just want to hire a professional to fix your machine. It would
probably be more efficient.

John,
In order to establish administrator rights:
1. Go to Control Panel.
2. Double click on User Accounts.
3. Click on "Create a New Account"
4. Create an account for yourself and make yourself the administrator.

Regarding your icon problems, I am not quite clear how this could have
happened by using cntrl-alt-del, but here are a couple of things for you to
try:
1. Right click on your desktop.
2. Play with the options, like "Arrange Icon" by "Auto Arrange
3. or try the different options under properties.

Another thing to try is:
1. Right click on gray bar on the side of your start button. Dont' click
on the start button itself, but on that grey bar next to it.
2. Click on Properties.
If you have done this step right, what should open up is your "Taskbar and
Start Menu Properties" box.
3. See if your "lock the taskbar" option is selected (check mark in it.)

If it's not, you should be able to left click on your start button and drag
it over to your left side. Now go back to your Taskbar and Start menu and
CLICK on that option, so that your taskbar is locked and it can never move on
you again.

Good luck!
