Setting up a Word document for converting a form to pdf format

Does anyone know if I can set up certain fields in a Word document that will
automatically create fill-in fields when converted to a pdf file?

I want to be able to have an MS Word form that I can modify easily and
convert to pdf format for publishing to users.

Help!

Thanks.

I seem to recall that form construction was introduced only with Acrobat 8
and then only when constructed within that application. I know of no way to
do this from Word.

I am using Cute PDF right now to turn my previously converted Word doc to a
fill-in form. It works well but I'm thinking ahead to when I may need to
modify the main form I created in Word and convert it to pdf again where I
will need to set up the fill-in fields in Cute PDF again.

I was hoping that potentially I could set up fields in Word that would be
recognized by Cute PDF or Adobe Acrobat as the fill-in fields to avoid this
problem.

Thoughts....
