Cross Reference Changes when Converting to PDF

Hello,

I'm converting a Word 2007 document with many Cross References via the MS
button Save As.... PDF or XPS. Once the document is converted to PDF about 8
of my cross references in the document changes to (See Section 0) and when I
go back to my Word document the same references have changed in the Word
document as well.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

The problem is most likely that you have pressed Return while the insertion
point was in the start of an already Ref-bookmarked paragraph - this results
in the new paragraph being included in the bookmark. See the demo below

Thanks Lene... I had actually gone through each of the problematic cross
references and the bookmark was selecting 2 lines of text. I updated the
hidden bookmarks for the cross references and all is well now.
