Setting up a home network

R

Roger Rutten

I'm trying to set up a home network. I have 2 computers a
compaq presario 5700 series and my NEW dell 8300. The
dell is the host computer, it is connected to the
internet via a cable modem and I have a wireless b
broadband router from linksys. I have run the setup
wizard on both machines. I can see the dell machine on
the compaq but cannot see the compaq on the dell. I get
the following error message: "Mshome is not accessible.
You might not have permission to use this network
resource. Contact the administrator of this server to
find out if you have access permissions. The list of
servers for this workgroup is not currently available "
Why is this?? What am I doing wrong. I'm not a techie so
please keep it simple.

I think James is referring to the Internet Connection
Firewall (ICF) service. To disable this, go to Control
Panel, Performance and Maintenance, Administrative Tools,
Services, find the ICF service, right click on it and
change the properties, changing the startup type to
Disable and press the Stop button to stop the service.

Hope that helps.

I am having a similar problem, by signature, but this
didn't solve my problem.
