Setting Permissions for Shared Calendars

I'm banging my head against a brick wall with this one.

Here's what I want to do, set up a user/mailbox in Active Directory,
then share this mailboxes calendar with selected staff. I want the
staff to be able to view and read the calendar, but I don't want them
to make direct edits/deletes to the calendar. All entries into the
calendar should be done by creating an item in their own calendar and
include the shared calendar as a resource. The shared calendar has
been set up to automatically accept all invitations.

I just cannot get the permissions how I want them. I seem to either
have full edit/delete access or only read access but cannot add the
shared calendar as a resource.

Does anyone know what permissions I need on Active Directory and the
Calendar in the mailbox to get what I am after?

Cheers.

Perhaps author rights to the calendar as the default may do the trick:
Create, Read, Edit - one's own calendar entries.

I think that may be it.

If I put Full Mailbox Rights on in the AD, then everyone can
create/edit/delete everything.
Setting it just to Read Permissions in the AD stops everyone doing that
and I think that setting the Outlook permissions to Author gives me
roughly what I want.
Does this sound about right?

Thanks for your assistance.
