Set up

Can some one please explain this to me please. I do not know what to put for
server ect. I have a live.com e-mail ande can not get it set up.

I see you posted with a Live email address. Is that your only email address?
US-based free Hotmail and Live accounts have webmail access only, no POP access.
Windows Mail handles POP mail but not webmail.

The newer Windows Live Mail program does accommodate Hotmail and Live accounts.
You are welcome to upgrade to it: http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview

Another option is to wait a few weeks. Microsoft has promised to start free POP
access for US-based Hotmail/Live accounts sometime this month.
