Service Pack 3 Issue

H

Hal Kingsley

I hope someone out there can help. Service pack 3 was just installed on my
laptop, since then I cannot modify the Windows Firewall. I have administrator
privlidges.

Programs such as Active-synch are now not able to work. Windows Firewall has
now blocked me from many of my standard programs. All since the install.

When going into the firewall, there is a statement that says, "Firewall is
governed by group policies."

Where can I go to either turn off the firewall or modify it? It is all
currently grayed out.

Once again, I have the admin username and password and this does not help.

Thanks.

Yes, it is a work laptop.
Group Policies are tools administrators use to keep employees from
screwing around with company property.

I have to add agreement here. It's really not a good idea to make changes
the IT group don't know about - when things go wrong and they realize that
unauthorized changes were made - guess who is right in line for the blame?

Better to talk to them about it before making changes.
