Service Pack 2 problems

I had sp2 installed and it ran fine for about 3 days then my system crashed.
I now have part of sp2 installed and can't uninstall it. I've tried using
system restore and a/r programs neiter work. Whenever I try to reinstall sp2
I get 2 error messages. "Can't move file mobsync.dll and after creating a
restore point the install stops and I get a message "Failed to install
catalog files"

You can manually uninstall sp2 from recovery console.

I've tried all the methods on that support page except using the recovery
console and my computer didn't come with a windows xp cd and I don't know how
to boot into the recovery console otherwise.

console an my compaq didn't come with a xp cd. I've also tried using a 98
bootdisk but my hd is ntfs.

You will have to settle for what you have available. All Preinstalled
versions of XP must have some Recovery option provided.
