service pack 2 after clean install 15 minute boot time please help

Encountered this problem twice... Could use some helpful advice or
comments... They're highly appreciated. I did a clean install after a new
partition format.. I'm using Windows XP Home edition.. With the clean install
alone, start up is quick -- normal. I installed SP2 and now the boot up time
is 15 minutes.
I get a black screen after bios does it's thing, and then I get the black
and white windows bar that takes forever to move... Once windows starts up
and the mouse is on the screen, running speed is normal.

Any suggestions? I've read a lot of posts and haven't found anyone with this
problem.. Please help..

Thanks

Thanks. I checked on Gateways website.. didn't find any valuable information.
All of the other steps on that page I did before I upgraded. I also forgot to
mention that I had Windows XP Professional SP2 on this computer with no
problems.

More help will be greatly appreciated..
Thanks.
