Service Control Error

I keep getting the following error in the system section of event viewer:

"The Parallel port driver service failed to start due to the following error:

The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it."

I've got an Abit board without a parallel port so there is nothing to disable in the bios. I can't find a parallel port driver service in the list of services in WinXP Pro. It is supposed to be related to HP Printers but It's a system error not an application error. I can't find where it is coming from so I can't do anything about it. It is the only system error I've gotten in the last 3 months and I've been trying to ignoring it but it is now driving me nuts.

Does anyone know anything about this and what I can do to correct it?

Wes,

I tried something else and it has apparently worked. Time will tell. In
Device Manager I went to Non-plug & Play Drivers, scrolled down to ParVdm
and changed the startup option on the driver tab from automatic to demand.
I took a chance that this might be the parallel port driver or at least had
something to do with the parallel port that I don't have.

Thanks for the technet link. I'll keep it for future use.

David
